How it works
Cryolipolysis rests on a simple biological fact: subcutaneous fat cells are more vulnerable to cold than the skin, nerves and vessels around them. Manstein, Anderson and colleagues demonstrated this selective cryolysis effect in 2008, and it has since become one of the best documented mechanisms in non-invasive body shaping.
Here's what happens in a session. The applicator draws a fold of tissue into its treatment window under gentle vacuum. Cooling plates then hold that fold at a precisely controlled low temperature, adjustable in single-degree steps, for a programmed time that can run up to 90 minutes. Lipids inside the fat cells crystallize, which triggers gradual, natural cell death. Over the following weeks the body's own metabolism clears the affected cells, so the circumference of the treated area shrinks while the overlying skin stays intact.
